| Hours of Work: | 30.0-40.00 Hours a week. Overtime rate (X1.5) applicable 44 hours of work per week |
Major Responsibilities
- Diagnose and repair operating problems in engines, transmissions, brakes, steering and suspension systems, axles, fuel and emission systems, and electrical/electronic components.
- Overhaul, adjust, and reassemble major mechanical components such as engines, clutches, differentials, and drive shafts.
- Operate computerized diagnostic and testing equipment to identify and isolate mechanical or electrical faults.
- Perform preventive maintenance, inspections, and safety checks to ensure equipment reliability and compliance with standards.
- Read and interpret work orders, service manuals, schematics, and manufacturer specifications.
- Maintain accurate service records and ensure repairs meet industry and company standards.
- Stay current with technological advancements and continuously develop trade-related skills.
- Communicate effectively with co-workers, customers, and service managers.
- Provide guidance, instruction, and mentorship to apprentices as required.
Employment Requirements
- 2-3 years of experience as a licensed Truck and Coach Mechanic, preferably in a dealership or commercial service center environment is required.
- Possession of a valid Truck and Coach Technician (310T) Certificate of Qualification issued by Skilled Trades Ontario or equivalent provincial certification.
- Proven proficiency in diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining heavy-duty trucks, diesel engines, transmissions, braking systems, hydraulics, and electrical systems.
- Strong ability to interpret technical manuals, wiring diagrams, and diagnostic codes.
- Completion of secondary school is required; post-secondary training in automotive or mechanical technology is an asset.
- Good oral and written communication skills in English, with the ability to interact professionally with customers and team members.
- A valid Ontario driver’s licence (DZ or AZ licence preferred) is an asset.
