Salary: $36.14 to $40.00 per hour; The gross salary paid is subject to all applicable Federal and Provincial income taxes and other statutory deductions such as EI and CPP.
Vacation: 4% of the gross salary
Hours of Work: 30.0-40.00 Hours a week. Overtime rate (X1.5) applicable after 44 hours of work per week

Job Summary:

Techspirit Solutions Inc. is seeking a Control4/Smart Home wiring Technician to install, configure, integrate, test, troubleshoot, and maintain telecommunications, structured cabling, networking, and smart-home automation systems at residential and commercial client sites throughout the Greater Toronto Area. The technician will work with Control4 and other smart-home platforms, structured cabling, network equipment, low-voltage wiring, and connected devices to ensure reliable communication and operation of integrated systems.

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Install, terminate, test, and troubleshoot structured cabling and low-voltage telecommunications wiring for smart-home systems, including Cat5e/Cat6/Cat6A, coaxial, and fibre-optic cable.
  • Perform rough-in, cable pulling, routing, termination, labelling, and finishing of telecommunications and low-voltage wiring at residential and commercial client sites.
  • Install and configure Control4 and other smart-home devices, including processors, keypads, lighting controls, motorized shades, thermostats, sensors, security devices, and related equipment.
  • Install and configure networking equipment, including routers, switches, wireless access points, patch panels, racks, and related connectivity equipment.
  • Read and interpret technical diagrams, wiring diagrams, schematics, blueprints, and system integration plans.
  • Test and troubleshoot structured cabling, network connections, smart-home devices, and integrated systems to identify and resolve connectivity and system-performance issues.
  • Configure smart-home control systems, user interfaces, firmware, and software settings in accordance with project requirements and manufacturer specifications.
  • Perform preventive maintenance, repairs, and service work on telecommunications and smart-home systems.
  • Maintain accurate documentation of cable routes, terminations, device configurations, system settings, service activities, and materials used.
  • Coordinate with project managers, contractors, suppliers, and other technicians to complete installations and service work according to project requirements and schedules.

Qualifications / Requirements:

  • Completion of secondary school is required. A diploma or technical certification in telecommunications, electronics, electrical technology, networking, or a related field is preferred.
  • Minimum 2 years experience in telecommunications, structured cabling, low-voltage systems, networking, or smart-home system installation and service is required.
  • Experience installing, configuring, testing, or servicing Control4 or similar smart-home automation systems is required.
  • Experience installing and terminating structured cabling, including Cat5e, Cat6/Cat6A, coaxial, or fibre-optic cable.
  • Knowledge of networking, Ethernet, Wi-Fi, low-voltage wiring, and communication systems is required.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical diagrams, wiring diagrams, schematics, blueprints, and network layouts.
  • Ability to test, troubleshoot, and diagnose telecommunications, networking, and smart-home system issues.
  • Strong problem-solving, attention to detail, and communication skills.
  • A valid driver’s licence and ability to travel to client sites throughout the Greater Toronto Area are required.
