Drafting Technologist

Essential Functions / Major Responsibilities

• Responsible for creating detailed 3D models of plastic parts and products, accurately representing the dimensions, specifications, and geometry of the components.
• Create 2D technical drawings and schematics based on the 3D models for manufacturing, assembly, and quality control processes.
• Specify the materials to be used for each component and define tolerances to ensure that manufactured parts meet quality standards.
• Create assembly drawings and instructions that guide the assembly process of plastic components and products.
• Generate and maintain a Bill of Materials that lists all the components and materials needed for each product.
• Stay up-to-date with the latest features and capabilities of SolidWorks and AutoCAD to maximize efficiency and accuracy in drafting tasks.
• Review and validate drawings for accuracy and adherence to company standards. Identify and resolve any discrepancies or errors in the drawings.
• Maintain organized records of all drawings and design revisions.

Desired skills and requirements

• A minimum of one-year experience using SolidWorks and AutoCAD in a manufacturing industry is required.
• A college level diploma in Mechanical Engineering, drafting techniques or related discipline is required.
• Proficiency in SolidWorks and AutoCAD is required.
• Basic knowledge of plastic manufacturing processes such as injection molding, extrusion, and thermoforming is beneficial.
• Certifications in a related engineering design software or drafting technology an asset
• Team oriented individual with demonstrated ability to work unsupervised and self-directed.
