Position: Automotive Service Technician-Apprentice

Duration/Type: Full Time

Salary: $35,500 per annum; The gross salary paid is subject to applicable Federal and Provincial income taxes and other statutory deductions such as EI and CPP.

Other Benefits: Group insurance benefits including medical, dental and eye care coverage on a 50% cost sharing basis

Vacation: 4% of the gross salary

Hours of Work: 32.5 Hours a week. Overtime applicable at the rate of X1.5 after 44 hours of work per week

Responsibilities:

• Perform vehicle repairs and maintenance
• Diagnose the source of any malfunctions and rectify
• Examine vehicles to determine if additional safety or service work is needed
• Using various diagnostic equipment to diagnose and isolate faults
• Keeping up to date on advances in technology and updating skills
• Communicating effectively with co-workers, customers, and service managers
• Reading and interpreting owner/operator/manufacturer operating manuals and service specifications

Job Requirements

• Minimum one-year of work experience in Automotive Repair as a Technician or Apprentice is required.
• Trade certification for Automotive Service Technicians is compulsory to be eligible to apply for the position of an Automotive Service Technician
• Apprentice registration with Ontario College of trades required to work as an apprentice technician; An eligible applicant must be willing to register for it.
• Completion of secondary school is required; Training courses in the related mechanical field an asset
• Oral/written English language skills with an ability to engage in verbal interactions with customers
