Registered Early Childhood Educator

Essential Functions / Major Responsibilities

• Develop and implement child-care programs for the organization to support and promote the physical, cognitive, emotional, and social development of the children
• Provide a quality caring and supportive childcare program and address unique childcare needs, meeting all regulatory standards required by federal, provincial, and municipal governments.
• Responsible for the constant supervision, safety, and well-being of the children
• Plan, carry out, and assess developmental activities that support & promote the physical, mental, emotional, and social development of children
• Plan environments and experiences that support intellectual, physical, social, and emotional development and learning through play, exploration and inquiry
• Provide a daily balance of active/quiet, indoor/outdoor, and individual/group activities
• Plan and maintain an environment that protects the health, security, and well-being of children
• Observe the behaviour of the children and discuss their abilities, interests & needs with their parents and other staff members
• Assist children in expressing themselves by listening and responding with questions & comments that extend dialogues
• Guide and assist children in the development of proper eating, dressing and toilet habits

Specific Job Requirements

• Completion of an accredited college program in early childhood education required.
• Membership and Licensing by a provincial or territorial association for early childhood educators (ECE) is required.
• First aid and CPR certificate required.
• Minimum 1 year of experience as a registered early childhood educator (R.E.C.E.) is required.
• Montessori school training is required.
• A recent and clear vulnerable sector search from the city/region police dept
• Vaccination records: Proof of all vaccinations including COVID, and a TB test required
