Position:  Assistant Restaurant Manager
Duration/Type: Permanent/Full Time
Work Location: 1460 Kennedy Rd, Scarborough, ON M1P 2L7
Salary: $19.50 per hour; The gross salary paid is subject to applicable Federal and Provincial income taxes and other statutory deductions such as EI and CPP.
Other Benefits: Optional group insurance benefits including medical, dental & eyecare coverage on cost sharing basis
Vacation: 4% of the gross salary
Hours of Work: 35-40 Hours a week; Overtime rate (X1.5) applicable after 44 hours of work per week

Essential Functions / Major Responsibilities

  • Oversee restaurant operations to ensure a high standard of service is being delivered.
  • Assisting the management with recruiting and training of the new employees.
  • Assists the Restaurant Manager in building the restaurants’ bench strength by identifying and developing high potential employees for progression to the next level.
  • Provide ongoing performance feedback and conduct and record regular performance reviews.
  • Communicate with all shifts on day-to-day operations and critical areas of focus.
  • Determining stock needs, interacting with vendors, monitoring sales and accountable for inventory management and cash control systems for all the shifts
  • Ensure appropriate building maintenance and cleanliness.
  • Ensure that the restaurant complies with health and safety regulations and all local and national food safety codes are maintained.
  • Ensure high standards of guest experience are maintained.
  • Manage team member scheduling to ensure adequate coverage on all shifts.
  • Resolve guest complaints and turn potentially negative situations into positive ones.

Specific Job Requirements

  • Minimum 1-2 years of experience in the food service sector, including supervisory experience is required.
  • Completion of secondary school is required. College level diploma related to hospitality or business management is desired.
  • Requires moderate to high communication skills in English Language with an ability to communicate with all levels of employees and to resolve guests’ concerns.
  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
  • Must be able to work any area of the restaurant when needed and to operate a computerized Point of Sale system/cash register.
