Work Location: 7050A Bramalea Rd, Unit 13, Mississauga, ON L5S 1T1

Wage: $36.00 per hour; subject to all applicable federal and provincial income taxes and statutory deductions

Vacation Pay: 4% of gross salary

Hours of Work: 30 to 40 hours per week; overtime is paid at 1.5 times the regular hourly rate for hours worked beyond 44 per week

Job Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Draft and prepare legal documents related to real estate transactions, including purchase and sale agreements, mortgage documents, title documents, and closing statements.
  • Conduct comprehensive title searches to confirm that property titles are free of liens, encumbrances, or other legal issues.
  • Assist with due diligence, including reviewing property surveys, zoning bylaws, and municipal regulations to ensure legal compliance.
  • Liaise and coordinate with clients, real estate agents, lenders, mortgage brokers, insurance companies, and other stakeholders to facilitate seamless transactions.
  • Coordinate the closing process by preparing closing documents, scheduling appointments, and ensuring all documentation is properly signed and executed.
  • File legal documents with appropriate land and government registries and ensure timely registration and documentation.
  • Respond to client inquiries, provide transaction updates, and resolve concerns in a professional and timely manner.
  • Conduct legal research pertaining to real estate law and related regulatory frameworks.
  • Perform general administrative functions including file management, maintaining accurate records, scheduling meetings, and managing calendars.

Requirements and Qualifications:

  • A minimum of 2 years of full-time experience is required in handling residential real estate closings independently from start to finish
  • Completion of a college diploma in paralegal studies, law clerk, or related legal discipline is required.
  • Proficient in using real estate legal software including Conveyancer, Teraview, PC Law, Microsoft Word, and Outlook.
  • Demonstrated experience in conducting accurate title and related searches.
  • Excellent multitasking skills and the ability to handle multiple files efficiently.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills to interact with clients and stakeholders.
  • Ability to take initiative and work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Exceptional oral and written English communication skills.
