| Salary: | $26.00 per hour; The gross salary paid is subject to applicable Federal and Provincial income taxes and other statutory deductions such as EI and CPP. |
| Vacation: | 4% of the gross salary |
| Hours of Work: | 35.0-40.0 Hours a week. Overtime rate (X1.5) applicable after 44 hours of work per week |
Major Responsibilities:
- Detecting and diagnosing operating problems in frames and steering mechanisms, engines, transmissions, brakes, ignition, axles, fuel systems, engine management systems, suspension systems, electrical/electronic systems, emission control systems and air conditioning/refrigeration systems
- Adjusting, overhauling, repairing and reassembling engines, transmissions, clutches, rear ends, differentials, brakes, drive shafts, axles and other assemblies
- Using various diagnostic equipment to diagnose and isolate faults
- Keeping up to date on advances in technology and updating skills
- Communicating effectively with co-workers, customers and service managers
- Reading and interpreting owner/operator/manufacturer operating manuals and service specifications
Specific Job Requirements
- Prior experience of 7-12 months in an assisting occupation in automotive repair is required.
- Trade certification for truck and transport mechanics is compulsory in order to be eligible to apply for the position of a Truck & Coach Technician
- Apprentice registration with Ontario College of trades required in order to work as an apprentice technician; An eligible applicant must be willing to register for it.
- Completion of secondary school is required; Training courses in the related mechanical field an asset
- Oral/written English language skills with an ability to engage in verbal interactions with customers
